What each job involves
- Hems and cuffs. Shortening pants, dresses and similar garments to the right length. A cuffed hem folds the bottom of the leg up and is priced separately.
- Waist adjustments. Taking pants in or letting them out when the waist does not fit.
- Zipper repair and replacement. Fixing or replacing a stuck, broken or separated zipper on pants, dresses and jackets.
- Sleeve shortening. Bringing shirt and blouse sleeves up to the right length.
- Patches and small repairs. Closing up a hole in a garment you want to keep wearing.
Tips for a good fit
- Wear or bring the right shoes. Pants and dress hems depend on the heel height you will wear.
- Try the garment on before you go, and note exactly what needs to change.
- Do not trim anything yourself. Fabric that has been cut cannot be put back.
- Check the seams and fabric. How much a garment can be taken in or let out depends on how it was made.
